Africa-PressNamibia. AN ONLINE petition linked to members of the Namibian Defence Force (NDF), is in fact an initiative of an Erongo-based political activist, Reinhold Shipwiikineni, who is well-known for making controversial statements.

The petition that is scheduled to be handed over to President Hage Geingob next week, is demanding that the mandatory vaccination of NDF members be stopped with immediate effect.

Shipwiikineni is an uncompromising and relentless anti-vaxxer who is now all over social media inciting soldiers to resist their commanders’ orders. Shipwiikineni has confirmed being the brains behind the NDF petition. He went as far as publicising his cellphone number and requesting anti-vaccine soldiers to contact him.

He said that the petition, which is available on various social media platforms since Thursday, is to be printed, signed, scanned and then emailed back to him no later than Tuesday next week in order for it to reach State House as soon as possible.

Shipwiikineni is a self-confessed campaigner for former minister Jerry Ekandjo. He has vowed that Ekandjo will be elected Swapo Party president at the coming 2022 congress.

He has also revealed that he does not recognise President Geingob as the legitimate Head of State, nor as leader of the ruling party. He has, on many occasions, given Geingob deadlines to vacate the State House.

The latest deadline was that Geingob resign on or before 4 October. The date came and went, and on 7 October, Shipwiikineni launched a petition which, in some quarters, is wrongfully being attributed to NDF soldiers.
