Africa-Press – Namibia. TO maintain unity, the National Unity Democratic Organisation (Nudo) has decided to reinstate members suspended for sowing discord in the party.
Two years ago, Nudo expelled former National Council members Mbamanovandu Tuamunika and Veneruru Korumbo, after they were found guilty of offences including creating division in the party.
Nudo leader Esther Muinjangue told the media during a press briefing that the party’s national executive at a meeting held on 21 October 2022, decided to reinstate the members.
Muinjangue said a committee of three was formed to handle the matter.
“Former suspended or expelled Nudo members will be welcomed back to the party as ordinary members, hence they will not be reinstated to positions occupied before the suspension or expulsion,” said Muinjangue.
Muinjangue said Nudo is concerned about the ongoing squabbling around the Ovaherero Traditional Authority (OTA) chieftaincy and will thus visit the regions to meet members, stakeholders and traditional authorities.
“The meeting resolved that party leadership must devise strategies to engage disgruntled members in efforts to rescue and protect the party and restore unity.”
