Africa-Press – Namibia. NAMIBIA missed out on a place in the final after losing 5-4 to the United States at the World Skating Inline Hockey Championships in Buenos Aires on Friday.
Playing in their junior boy semifinal encounter, Namibia had a strong start and went 3-0 up by halftime.
The United States however made a determined comeback, to take a 5-3 lead, and although Namibia pulled a goal back it wasn’t enough as the United States held on for victory, which puts them through to the gold medal match against Chinese Taipei on Sunday.
Namibia will play the Czech Republic in the bronze medal match.
Namibia got off to a great start, scoring two goals in the first two minutes by James de Jager and Valerik Hilbert, and when JW Coetzee scored three minutes later they were well in control, leading3-0.
The United States however managed to keep Namibia at bay for the rest of the first half and then started the second half in stunning style with four goals in four minutes to go 4-3 up.
With six minutes to go they went 5-3 ahead, but Keanan Simpson soon replied for Namibia to narrow the deficit to 5-4.
The USA, however managed to hold on to their lead to book a place in the final.
