Africa-Press – Namibia. THE current water levels of dams in the southern regions stand at 1 079 million cubic metres, in comparison to Gobabis area dams’ water volume which currently stands at 3,2 million cubic metres.
This is according to NamWater’s latest weekly dam bulletin.
According to the bulletin, the Neckartal Dam, which is filled to 96% of its holding capacity, is presently storing 822,8 million cubic metres of water, while the Hardap Dam’s water volume stands at 160,6 million cubic metres. The Hardap Dam is currently filled to 54,5% of its storage capacity.
The Naute Dam is at 84,5%, holding 70,6 million cubic metres of water, while the Oanob Dam stands at about 71% (24,4 million cubic metres).
In the central region, the Swakoppoort Dam’s water level is currently at 50 million cubic metres (79% of storage capacity), followed by the Von Bach Dam at 18,5 million cubic metres (39%). The Omatako Dam (1,7%) is almost empty.
The Friedenau Dam stands at 5,3 million cubic metres (79%).
In the Gobabis area, the Otjivero Main Dam is currently standing at 23,8% (2,3 million cubic metres), while the Tilda Viljoen Dam stands at 47% (0,5 million cubic metres) and the Daan Viljoen Dam stands at 41% (about 178 000 cubic metres of water).
