Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Meat Board of Namibia has invited eligible organisations to apply for a share of 1 600 tonnes of beef export quota to Norway for 2022.
According to a notice on Meat Board’s website, the quota is available to Namibian entities that qualify for the production and export of beef to Norway.
Namibian exports to Norway were worth US$54,93 million (N$800 million) during 2020, according to the United Nations Comtrade database on international trade.
Of these exports, meat and edible meat offal to Norway accounted for US$1,69 million (N$25,5 million) during 2020, according to the UN database updated this month.
The 1 600 tonnes of beef quota is awarded annually to eligible organisations and will be valid for the period beginning 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2022. New entrants are encouraged to apply provided they qualify for production and exports of beef to Norway.
The sharing and allocation of the beef quota will be done in accordance with the Cabinet directive for the export of beef to Norway, as well as the Meat Board of Namibia Norwegian quota standard operating procedures.
All applicants are required to submit a certified copy of the “Certificate of approval of establishment by Norway”, indicating the establishment number before 30 October.
Applicants should also clearly indicate the total tonnage of beef applied for during the calendar year 2022. They must also disclose historic slaughter numbers and beef export volumes indicating the capacity to export the beef tonnage applied for. Email: [email protected]
