Africa-Press – Namibia. TODD Parker’s recent winning streak continued when he won the Jack Daniels Gold Cup golf tournament at the Windhoek Golf & Country Club over the weekend.
It was his fourth tournament victory after he won the Windhoek Open, the Omeya Junior Open and the Windhoek Golf & Country Club Championships over the past two months.
Parker was a comfortable winner of the Gold Cup, completing the 54-hole event with a gross score of 216, well ahead of Walter Heibeb who came second on 221.
Mervin Nangolo had the best nett score of 207, beating Joseph Martin, who had the same score, on a count-out.
In the A Division, Paulus Shimoshili had the best gross score of 226, with Elias Mulombwelwa coming second on 228, while Jackson Kawaya had the best nett score of 215, followed by Wensley Haseb on 218.
In the B Division, Mervin Nangolo had the best gross score of 243, followed by Joseph Martin on 246, while Sakeus Matheus had the best nett score of 222, after beating Toady Gurirab on a count-out.
In the C Division, Johannes Hesekiel had the best gross score of 178, followed by Izak van Tonder on 181, while Raymond van Zyl had the best nett score of 145, followed by Chris van Lill on 147.
Terus Burger won the men’s stableford division with a score of 78, followed by Burger Bergh on 76, who beat Inklous Suze on a count-out.
Sesilia Nkoshi won the women’s division on 77, followed by Evelyn Paulino on 72 and Wilhelmina Maree on 71, while Quade Beukes won the junior division on 81, followed by Stefan Bergh on 64 and Tapi Katsvara on 47.
The nearest to the pin winners were Burger Bergh on the third hole, Boni Paulino on the ninth hole and Jolene van Schoor on the 13th hole.
A total of 74 players participated in the tournament, with the A and B divisions covering 54 holes over two days while the C Division covered 36 holes over two days.
Players came from Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, Tsumeb, Grootfontein, Oranjemund, Oshakati, Omeya and Windhoek to participate in the long-running event which was first played in 1964.
Kim Badenhorst of the sponsors, CIC Investments. congratulated all the winners and confirmed that they will continue sponsoring the event in 2023.
