Africa-Press – Namibia. OSHAKATI mayor Leonard Hango, his Ongwediva counterpart Taarah Shalyefu and Ondangwa mayor Paavo Amwele have retained their positions for another 12 months.
The Swapo councillors, who serve as mayors in their respective towns, were elected when the councils held internal elections for political office-bearers recently.
The mayors pledged to serve residents and deliver much needed services.
Oshakati Swapo councillor Puyeipawa Elifas retained her position as deputy mayor.
Ruusa Frans, Maria Mutumbulwa and Hofni Mutota also retained their positions as members of the management committee, while the Independent Patriots for Change’s (IPC) Jerobeam Ndaamohamba retained his position as ordinary councillor.
Swapo councillor Ulalia Katonyala retained her position as deputy mayor of the Ongwediva Town Council.
Naemi Amuthenu (Swapo), Jona Helao (IPC) and Fabian George (Swapo) maintained their positions as members of the management committee.
IPC councillors Ottillie Haitota and Kaarena Shikongo will continue to serve as ordinary members.
At Ondangwa, Ester Auala retained her position as deputy mayor for another term.
Julia Kapia (Swapo), Erikky Angula (IPC) and Nicodemus Amadhila (Swapo) remain members of the management committee.
Alphues Huawanga and Maria Haufiku, who are both IPC councillors, remain ordinary members.
