Africa-Press – Namibia. GONDWANA’S Etosha King Nehale Lodge was this weekend a sight of major fundraising for the Oompale Trust Fund.

The Oompala Trust was established in 2019 with the aim of uplifting and expanding the OTA’s relief services by reforming the traditional way of collecting produce and other items for the humanitarian assistance of the needy members of the Ondonga community.

During a special event held by King of Ondonga Fillemon Shuumbwa Nangolo, a cash of over N$130 000 was collected through auctioning of various items, including a Simmentaler Stud Bull that was given by Sidney Martin, and bidded successfully by Mannetjies Kambonde the secretary to the Palace and to tate Omukwaniilwa.

The secretary to tate Omukwaniilwa Mannetjies Kambonde, Job Amupanda and British billionaire Harvey Boulter were the successful bidders.

Nangolo said the concept Oompale came into existence in the era of King Nangombe Dha Mvula.

King Nangolo explained that this was done with the purpose of assisting those struggling and in need of help from the royal home, a tradition that was carried on by the generations.

Chairperson the Trust Mbushandje Ntinda said that they are grateful to Gondwana Collection Namibian for the smart partnership and mutual beneficial relation that was built with Ondonga community with specific to Oompale Trust Fund.

Ntinda also thanked the business community who participated in the auction.

“The funds will be put to good use to assist members of the community in the Ondonga Traditional Authority area and beyond,” he added.

He added that part of the funds will be used to complement the construction of the new quarters at Palace.
