Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Namibian Revenue Agency (NAMRA) donated 1 147 items of varying agricultural equipment to the Oshana Region to be allocated to all 11 constituencies.

Oshana governor Elia Irimari officially handed over the donated equipment by NAMRA to his 11 constituencies as part of assisting the farmers in Oshana during the ploughing season.

According to the Oshana Population Census of 2011, the region has a population of over 170 000 people, with 158 pick handlers.

192 rakes, 227 shovels, 173 spades, 204 pickaxes and 193 picks were shared among the constituencies.

Irimari said food security is at the helm of government as a top priority and therefore when opportunities are availed, people should ensure it’s put to good use.

Thus, Irimari said it is his hope that the equipment should benefit and further empower the farmers who might need assistance with ploughing tools during this season.

“It is your responsibility to ensure that the little efforts that we do does not waste and ensure that the beneficiaries that are identified to benefit through these activities indeed put it to good use,” he said.

He added that any materials or supporting tools that are given to them should also be able to hold them accountable where necessary.
