AS PART of adding to the canon of literature in the country, author and motivational speaker Onesmus Hipandwa Shoombe has launched a new novel titled ‘A Flood of Battles’.
The novel features comedy, romance, drama, and great lessons which are both humorous and inspirational and aims to encourage the youth to venture beyond their comfort zones and put their talents to good use.
‘A Flood of Battles’ highlights the journey of the young orphan Magano, who despite going through many hardships, never gives up on life. When her parents die, their will is altered and she is left out in the cold with nothing. All her plans seem to fail, but after many trials and tribulations, she eventually finds success.
The novel mirrors the struggle that many people face daily, in particular children who are in need of protection in communities, towns, homes and neighbourhoods across the country.
Shoombe says he strongly believes the book will validate and encourage Namibian children, youths and adults who face similar predicaments to remain courageous and bravely commit to achieving the development of their motherland.
“It is my hope that the youth would be encouraged to pursue writing as we currently have few books by Namibians,” says Shoombe. “It can also be impactful in developing our creative methods of helping others to make their voices heard and make better decisions in future.”
