Africa-Press – Namibia. With global vaccination campaigns in full swing, Trustco Group Holdings in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MOHSS) joined hands to ensure Namibia stays in sync with a worldwide vaccination drive to achieve herd immunity.
On Thursday 14 October and Friday the 15th, Trustco’s head office was abuzz with activity as people queued to be vaccinated at the mobile vaccination clinic.
With a media campaign roll out that commenced earlier that week, the staff of both Trustco Group and the MOHSS were hard at work to ensure optimum service delivery to both general public as well as unvaccinated Trustco employees. All were encouraged to make use of the opportunity to vaccinate themselves. With AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Johnson & Johnson, Sputnik and Pfizer on offer, Namibians had the freedom to choose.
Trustco’s spokesperson, Neville Basson, praised the initiative: “As Trustco Group, we would like to extend our sincere appreciation towards the MOHSS. They have done a superb job nationally in ensuring the message gets across to all Namibians. We, as Trustco, have equally done our part through our internal and external vaccination drives and awareness campaigns for both the public and employees.”
Trustco currently has almost 380 staff members who received their 1st dose, 62% of the total staff complement, and almost 240 fully vaccinated employees, or about 40% of the staff complement. Trustco’s head office vaccination numbers alone stand at 75% of its employees who have received their first jab and about 60% are fully vaccinated.
The First Lady, Monica Geingos, earlier singled out Trustco as a corporate that she would like to see emulated when she took some time from her busy schedule to demonstrate support for the initiative.
Madam Geingos invested a lot of time and resources to boost vaccination rates in Namibia, emphasizing its importance to the nation. She was joined by the Managing Director of Trustco Group, Dr Quinton van Rooyen, on a walkabout through the mobile clinic, and was visibly impressed by the set up and the professionalism of the process.
Over 150 people were vaccinated by the MOHSS at the mobile clinic during the two-day vaccination drive. “Wow, what a welcoming sight to see our First Lady here at Trustco today. A big thank you to Trustco too for making it easier for me. I’ve been waiting for the Johnson & Johnson shot for some time. I’m just too happy that I can finally get my jab, right here. I do feel however that this campaign should be ongoing. Kudos to your teamwork,” a visitor noted.
With the recent relaxation of the new COVID-19 regulations, the increase of gatherings of up to 200 and the complete cancellation of curfews being the two stand out changes, Namibians have a responsibility to be continuously mindful of their conduct.
With the national vaccination rate still well below global rates, self-awareness on safety for ourselves and our loved ones must enjoy the highest level of priority.
Trustco Group will be working continuously alongside fellow stakeholders in the creation of new initiatives to ensure that the message of vaccination stays on the minds and lips of all Namibians. The sooner Namibians understand their responsibility towards one another, the quicker the country can ensure a full economic and social recovery.
