Africa-Press – Namibia. SPOTS for the popular Windhoek Draught DTS Volleyball for All are running out fast, said organisers during the launch of the event on Wednesday evening.
The social sport event returns to its customary wholesome format after two years of circumventing the Covid pandemic.
However, time and space are of the essence for those who wish to be part of the fun on 4 February at the Deutscher Turn und Sportverein (DTS).
“We unfortunately had to skip the 2021 event due to Covid, and the 2022 event was on a much smaller scale,” said Julia Gideon, the chairperson of DTS Indoor Volleyball.
“But now we’re back to our usual huge event, and this year we can even take 250 teams as we have an additional [beach volleyball] court. So, if you want to enter, please hurry up. We don’t have that many spots left.”
Teams can enter the mixed six-a-side category, which requires that there are two women on court at all times. Each team is allowed two registered volleyball players only.
“It’s big fun. It’s a social event. It’s not about winning or professionals,” Gideon said.
“We do, of course, have first, second and third prizes. But, we also have a lot of prizes for fun categories like the best dressed, funniest name, sportiest team and best organised team.”
Entries close on Wednesday, 25 January.
“Make sure you get your entries in. You don’t want to miss this. You want to get out here, do some team building, whether it’s corporate or with your friends,” said Tazneen Klazen, the Windhoek Draught senior brand manager
