Africa-Press – Namibia. The University of Namibia (Unam) has introduced a five-week core semester that caters to the delivery of the university’s core modules.

This was said in a statement issued by yesterday Unam’s office of the pro-vice chancellor.

According to the statement, this semester also caters to the delivery of the university core modules/courses and the faculty/ school/departmental core modules/courses.

The statement added that the core semester is a compulsory five-week period that will precede the first semester of the academic year.

“All students are hereby notified that registration (for the new curricular is scheduled to take place and complete before the beginning of the core semester and students will only be allowed to progress to the first semester after completing the core semester,” the statement read.

The statement said all first-year and current students (where applicable) are, therefore, required to ensure they register on time, and that they (students) complete the core semester.

According to the statement, the core semester timetable will be available on the student portal. It is also available on request from the respective faculties/schools/departments.

“The university will be offering all the core semester modules/courses through a blended approach/mode in all the programmes,” the statement read.

All registered first-year students will be required to complete the university core modules/courses unless otherwise advised by the respective faculty officers.
