Africa-Press – Namibia. Two City of Windhoek employees were airlifted to South Africa on Monday after they were electrocuted while working on electricity infrastructure at Otjomuise.

City of Windhoek spokesperson Harold Akwenye confirmed this on Wednesday, saying that one of the employees had been airlifted to Johannesburg and the other to Cape Town.

He said an explosion occurred on a different apparatus than the one the two were working on.

Two electricity department employees sustained burn injuries in the incident, he said.

Akwenye said the cause of the incident could not be confirmed at the moment.

“We are busy with an investigation that will determine the cause of the explosion and an informed decision will be made to make sure such an incident won’t happen again. A detailed report will be communicated,” he said.
