Africa-Press – Namibia. IN order to ensure sustainability of the Oshikuku and Pfungstadt town partnership for good governance and cooperation an association has to be registered.

This after the Taamba association was launched in October 2022 in Pfungstadt, Germany for the benefit of the two towns.

According to Mayor of Pfungstadt, Patrick Koch, they are currently in the registration process, and Oshikuku will register one too.

Koch explained that the Taamba association was established to ensure the sustainability of their partnership, with hope of having their own account to operate with whilst addressing their needs which might arise.

“We want to work together to ensure we reach the set sustainable development goals,” he said.

He added that the association will also be used to channel or facilitate future traveling needs that the people of Pfungstadt and Oshikuku will intend to make to each other as sister towns.

Oshikuku Chief Executive Officer Lucas Amushembe said the benefits of their partnership are many, as two towns are working together for the benefit of their people.

He indicated that through the partnership that exists they have managed to send two staffs for training at Pfungstadt in the department of water and sewage management to learn the practice done by their partners.

This is will help address water supply challenges in the town of Oshikuku, as Pfungstadt have their own sewage and water system — and will be able to help Oshikuku on how to treat water and see how the processes of purification is done to make it usable.

Amushembe indicated that the two staff members were sent in 2019, and more are expected to visit Pfungstadt town for training.
