Africa-Press – Namibia. PATRIOTS Futsal Club are favourites to win the Express Credit Namibia Futsal Men’s Premier League following matches over the weekend, but four other teams still have an outside chance of beating them to the post.

Patriots, who were not in action over the weekend, lead the log on 61 points from 25 matches, and with three matches remaining and a five-point lead over second placed Quality FC, they are now hot favourites to win the title for the first time.

Quality (56 points), Ballers FC (51), and Chile FC (50), who all have a game in hand, however, all still have a mathematical chance of pipping Patriots to the post, while even the defending champions, Selecao from Swakopmund, who are fifth on 47 points with six matches in hand, have an outside chance of winning the title.

Selecao kept their hopes alive with a successful trip to Windhoek, winning two matches and drawing one.

On Friday night they thrashed Windhoek Show Society 11-1 after leading 6-0 at half time.

Lawrence Vilho led the way with five goals, while captain Waldron Theron scored a hat-trick, and Bobby Rutz, Innocent Emvula and Cee-Jay van Wyk one goal each.

Immanuel Angula scored a late consolation goal for WSS.

On Saturday morning, Selecao secured another three points when they beat Replica Futsal Club 6-1 after leading 3-0 at half time. Vilho and Jaylen Steyn scored two goals each, and Freidy Matoso and Andreas //Khamasub one goal each for Selecao, while Christy Diamonds scored Replica’s solitary goal.

Later on Saturday, Selecao played to a 2-2 draw against Chile FC, after the teams were tied 1-1 at halftime.

Vilho scored both goals for Selecao, while Wesley Otto scored a brace for Chile.

In the only other Men’s Premier League match on Saturday, The Mavericks dented the Ballers’ title hopes with a 7-3 victory, after leading 4-1 at halftime.

Mzwandile Mento scored a hat-trick for the Mavericks, and Elmor Delie, Denis Matheus and Cedrick Ndjamba one goal each, while Enrico Swartz and Maximilian Boll one goal each.

The result sees the Ballers remaining third on the log on 51 points – 10 behind the leaders Patriots.
