Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Office of the President has donated 860 bags of butternuts to the victims of flooding in the Oshana and Ohangwena regions.
The donation also included 706 bales of grass for the livestock.
The donation will benefit all victims at Oshakati’s Ehenye temporary camp and the Oshikango flood centre in the Helao Nafidi town.
Accepting the donation, Ohangwena regional governor Walde Ndevashiya said that the floodwater has affected many people in different ways.
He indicated that the floodwater did not only leave many people temporarily homeless, but also destroyed grazing fields.
Ndevashiya urged those who have the responsibility of distributing the items to not keep them in store, but to hand them to the intended beneficiaries.
He is urging Good Samaritans to lend a helping hand to flood victims where they can.
“We still have the after affects of the flood, and our people need help,” he said.
In the Ohangwena Region there is a total of 417 affected and relocated households.
In the Oshana Region the number stands at 263 affected households.
