Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Namibian sport betting company Pst Bet on Wednesday announced a sponsorship of N$2,7 million to the MTC Sunshine Boxing Academy for the next three years.
Making the announcement, the CEO of PstBet Steve Hamunyela said they are proud of their sponsorship and their investment in Namibian sport in general.
“Sponsorship is a major part of PstBet’s strategy and has been vital in helping to develop our brand locally. We create deep relationships and partnerships with the clubs, teams, venues and events that we sponsor. We’re not interested in simply putting our logo on a shirt or billboard – we’re in it for the love of the game,” he said.
“We are proud to see our name on the shirts of this recognised boxing academy in Namibia. This partnership is giving us huge exposure worldwide and at the same time its empowering Namibian youths who are very talented and interested in boxing,” he added.
Hamunyela said that PstBet now employs more than 500 people countrywide and that their top priority was to invest in their corporate social responsibilities.
Some of the other sport clubs and events that they sponsor include Civics Football Club, the Windhoek Cultural Festival, Khuse Lion Football Club and the Ohangwena region u20 football team.
Nestor Tobias of the MTC Sunshine Boxing Academy said the sponsorship was a great boost for the academy and Namibian boxing in general.
“Today is another milestone for the MTC Sunshine Boxing Academy – it came as a big shock for us, and we accept this sponsorship with all of the boxers’ hearts, and the boxing community in Namibia in general,” he said.
“We’ve been in a relationship with PstBet for one year. They are very ambitious when it comes to their brand and that’s why MTC allowed PST to join our group when it comes to boxing,” he added.
Tobias also displayed a gift for the gab.
“MTC is an admired brand and when you say ‘make the connection’ and PstBet you talk about ‘you play, we pay.’ But when you come to the Sunshine Academy, we say, ‘no pain, no gain,’ so that’s a brilliant combination and through this partnership we will take boxing to the next level,” he said.
“From now on you will see PstBet in the biggest boxing venues of the world, because all our boxers will wear MTC PstBet on their trunks. So whether it’s in the USA, or the UK or Namibia, Pst Bet will be acknowledged and will be part of boxing development from now on,” he added.
