Outgoing TransNamibia CEO gets new job

Africa-Press – Namibia. THE outgoing chief executive officer (CEO) of TransNamib, Johnny Smith, has been appointed as Grindrod Rail’s new CEO as of 1 April.

Grindrod Rail is a South African rail company.

In a short statement, the company’s CEO, Xolani Mbambo, said due to Smith’s experience at the Walvis Bay Corridor Group, as well as his in-country experience, he will be responsible for unlocking growth opportunities for the ships agency and terminal business.

“He brings more than 30 years of experience in organisational and strategy development, international business, sales, marketing, project management, financial management, and extensive experience in the rails and ports industry,” Mbambo said.

Smith holds a bachelor of commerce degree, and a master’s degree of business administration.

He has confirmed the new post.

“It’s true, I got a new post, and I will start at the beginning of April,” he says
