Africa-Press – Namibia. IN a car accident that occurred in Oshikoto, 18 individuals, including two infants under one year old, suffered critical to moderate injuries.
The incident happened on the Omuthiya-Oshivelo B1 road, about 15km before Omuthiya on Monday afternoon.
Community Affairs Officer, Inspector Ellen Nehale, said that the driver of a white Toyota Quantum was travelling from Windhoek to Oshakati at the time of the accident.
Nehale indicated that the driver lost control of the vehicle after the left rear tire burst between Oshivelo and Omuthiya at Omutsegondjamba village. The vehicle left the road and overturned.
“There were 18 passengers on the bus, including the driver. All were taken to Omuthiya State Hospital by ambulance with serious to moderate injuries,” she said.
According to Nehale, a case of reckless and negligent driving has been opened by Omuthiya police.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
