Africa-Press – Namibia. MESSAGES of well-wishes have begun to flood in as Namibians celebrate the 94th birthday of the Founding President, Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma, today.
The revolutionary leader, born on May 12, 1929, in the village of Etunda, has received an organized birthday celebration by the Sam Nujoma Foundation, which will take place on Saturday in the Omusati Region. However, the event will have a limited number of attendees.
Extending his well-wishes, President Hage Geingob described Nujoma as a true revolutionary who has displayed commendable leadership, urging the sons and daughters of Namibia to fight for their freedom.
President Geingob emphasized the significance of Comrade Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma, the leader of the Namibian Revolution, the Father of the Namibian Nation, and the Founding President of the Republic of Namibia.
“Today, we celebrate 94 years in the life of a valiant son of the Namibian soil whose bravery was unmatched and unwavering in the pursuit of the right to self-determination for the people of this country,” he said.
President Geingob added that Nujoma’s leadership in the Namibian revolution brought others along, uniting them towards the common goal of freedom from Apartheid oppression.
As President of the liberation movement SWAPO, Comrade Nujoma led Namibians to freedom in 1990, and as the Founding President of Namibia, he played a significant role in uniting the country in their journey towards a stable and prosperous nation.
President Geingob said that it was the hope for a liberated and prosperous nation that fueled the acts of bravery by Comrade Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma to see the fight for independence through.
Therefore, President Geingob expressed that the hope for a united, inclusive, and prosperous Namibia should always motivate them to act courageously in the interests of the Namibian people.
Namibians have also expressed their best wishes for the Founding President on social media, acknowledging Nujoma’s lifelong dedication to promoting the freedom and unity of the Namibian people.
