Africa-Press – Namibia. PRESIDENT Hage Geingob has assigned the newly-appointed Namibian Ambassador to Austria, Vasco Sampofu, with the responsibility of promoting the country’s economic opportunities and other developments in Austria.

During the ambassador’s recent commissioning ceremony, President Geingob expressed his expectations for Sampofu to provide truthful and regular updates to the Austrian government, business community, investors, tourists, and other stakeholders regarding economic opportunities and developments in Namibia, particularly in the areas of Green Hydrogen and the discovery of oil.

The president emphasized his trust in Sampofu to strengthen and enhance the relationship between Namibia and Austria, stating, “I have appointed you, Mr. Vasco Sampofu, to represent me in the Republic of Austria as the Ambassador of the Republic of Namibia. You are well aware of the interests between Namibia and Austria, and I believe that you share my desire to consolidate and enhance these relations. My faith in your character and ability gives me complete confidence that you will carry out your duty in a manner fully acceptable to the leadership of the Republic of Austria.”

President Geingob also expressed his expectation for Namibia to expand its trading partnerships with Austria through Sampofu’s appointment. He encouraged the ambassador to identify niche markets for Namibian products, while simultaneously working to improve the country’s image and global competitiveness rankings.

Furthermore, the president urged Sampofu to stay updated on science, technology, climate change, and geopolitics, as he is expected to provide the government with relevant policy perspectives to effectively navigate the fourth industrial revolution.

In addition to promoting Namibia’s interests, President Geingob stressed the importance of prioritizing the well-being of Namibians. He stated, “Whatever you will be doing as a Namibian Ambassador must translate into tangible benefits for the Namibian people and contribute to our developmental agenda, as well as our quest to build a united, peaceful, and prosperous Namibian House, in which no one should feel left out.”
