Africa-Press – Namibia. POPULAR Democratic Movement (PDM) parliamentarian, Johannes Martin, on Monday handed over donations at two schools where he was a teacher before stepping into full time politics two years ago.
He donated various items to the Niitembu Primary School in the Onamutai Circuit and the Shinime Shiimvula Primary School in the Oluno Circuit. The items were accepted by the respective school principals, Theresia Shilongo and Oscar Kashululu.
The donated items include 80 packs of sanitary pads; 80 face masks; 10 bottles of hand sanitizer; six booklets of the Namibian constitution in English and in Oshiwambo; 200 posters containing Covid-19 information; 400 leaflets of educational materials related to sexual and reproductive health; sexual and gender-based violence; the dangers of unsafe abortion; drug abuse and teenage parenting, as well as 12 year calendars for 2022.
Martin said that he obtained the face masks, hand sanitizers and the material on sexual reproductive health through his engagement with the Namibia Planned Parenting Association (NAPPA). The rest he acquired through own means, as a way of giving back to the community.
Martin said he started his teaching career at the Niitembu Primary School in 2007 but later moved to the Shinime Primary School where he taught until 2019 when he became PDM parliamentarian.
