Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) will launch the National Symbols Campaign on 22 June in Swakopmund.

This was revealed by the ministry’s Senior Public Relations Officer, Shoki Kandjimi, who explained that the campaign aims to promote the correct use of national symbols and the observation of associated protocols. The campaign, he added, further aims to enhance patriotism by educating Namibians about the importance of national symbols and promoting the correct protocols and etiquette.

While the campaign will be launched in Swakopmund, located in the Erongo Region, Kandjimi said it will be rolled out across all 14 regions of the country.

Kandjimi explained that the campaign will be launched in partnership with supporting stakeholders who are fundamental to reinforcing and amplifying the protocols for using various national symbols and performing the national anthem. Amongst these stakeholders are the Office of the President, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of International Relations, the Namibia Sports Commission, and the Namibian Police Force.

“National Symbols are essential to unite Namibians by creating visual, verbal and iconic representations of our nation’s sovereignty,” the ministry’s Executive Director, Audrin Mathe, added.
