Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Anglican mission St Mary’s parish at Odibo in the Ohangwena Region will be hosting a fundraising event to raise money for the renovation of their church.
The building has met its cracks and requires tremendous renovation if it is to stand for many years to come.
The church was established in August 1924 by George Tobias, Nelson Fogarty, and Reverend R White, an Anglican priest who had the task of setting up a mission in northern Ovamboland.
Today, the parish is regarded as the mother of all parishes in the Anglican Diocese of Namibia.
The church is slated to host their fundraising event next Sunday, where a cow will be won.
The chairperson of the project, Nauta William, said the event will be held at the church ground.
William indicated that the parish priest and her team decided to take a drastic step to renovate the whole building from the roof to the entire wall.
“Work has already started. This is a very big project and requires more funds,” he said.
He added that in order to raise more funds and complete the work, collective effort is required by all people of faith.
William then called on all Namibians to turn up in large numbers to make the event a success.
