Africa-Press – Namibia. The Old Mutual Sustainable Economic & Empowerment Drive (OM SEED) initiative has ushered in a new era of entrepreneurship in Namibia’s Hardap Region. Through a fruitful collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Accelerator Lab, Old Mutual Namibia takes pride in announcing the triumphant winners of the 2023 OM SEED Hardap Region.
At the forefront is Taljaard Uaputuaka, the driving force behind TJF Investments CC. His innovative focus on crafting reusable sanitary pads has propelled him to the top spot, securing a substantial N$50,000 in support. Uaputuaka’s resolute commitment to sustainability and women’s health radiates through his passionate advocacy. Following closely is Janine Ellen Englebrecht, claiming the second position with Vicon Investments CC, a specialized enterprise focused on tool repair and hire. Her impactful contribution is rewarded with N$30,000 to further develop her business. The third place is secured by Roger Cloete, whose exceptional talents shine through his gemstone jewelry haven, Hardap Gemstones and Consulting. Cloete’s creative endeavor garners him N$20,000, standing as a testament to his inventive prowess and artistic acumen.
Taljaard Uaputuaka, celebrated as the champion of the Hardap Region, conveyed his heartfelt appreciation, stating, “Being crowned the OM SEED 2023 winner for the Hardap region holds profound significance. At TJF Investments CC, we are fully dedicated to merging environmental consciousness with economic progress. This achievement propels our mission of creating reusable sanitary pads, amplifying the impact of our endeavors. The awarded funds will play a pivotal role in expanding our reach and optimizing our available resources.”
Mignon du Preez, Old Mutual Namibia’s Group Marketing, Public Affairs, and Sustainability Executive, emphasized the remarkable journey of these entrepreneurs. “The Hardap trio’s entrepreneurial brilliance epitomizes the unyielding spirit of the region. Their path mirrors the transformative potential inherent in initiatives like OM SEED, fueling economic growth, fostering innovation, and uplifting communities.”
