Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Namibian government’s target of achieving Zero Hunger by 2030 is continuously supported by the United Nations’ World Food Program (WFP) through various initiatives to ensure that the Namibian child is well-nourished and educated.

This week, the WFP in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture launched the Home Grown School Feeding Programme at the Otjimuhaka Primary School in the Kunene Region.

The programme is aimed at complementing existing meals with balanced and diversified food portions. Country Director of the WFP George Fedha said hunger cannot be tolerated.

“Hunger is caused by poverty and when you don’t have enough food.”

Angeline Jantze, the regional director of education, encouraged other donors to assist schools through such programmes to boost food supply, ensuring that children get three meals a day which will in turn improve school attendance.
