Africa-Press – Namibia. POVERTY and unemployment have left many learners walking to school barefoot, as their parents are unable to afford school shoes for their children. More crucially, for 4×4, is that a man might not be able to take up their responsibility for kids; we are ready to step in – “a brother is not a burden.”

Hence, the introduction of the 4×4 initiative in eight towns of the country with the aim of encouraging people to be agents of change in society.

Initiative founder, Sidney Boois, said this is aimed to drive positive change through value-driven approaches by advocating for responsible practices among men and boys, making good/positive choices, and supporting a brother, to support one child’s hope and dream through education.

Boois indicated that the 4×4 Project Chapters have thus far been established at Usakos, Karibib, Okahandja, Windhoek, Otjiwarongo, Tsumeb, and Ongwediva where at least 50 school pairs of shoes were contributed by men.

“We started this year’s campaign in Swakopmund with my son, and we bought 5 pairs to be handed to Swakopmund Mayor for distribution,” he said.

He added that men are not heartless; it’s probably an old narrative – thus, they are going to change that narrative through less talk and more practical positive actions.

“Change starts with one man, not a committee or group,” he added.

He then called on people to be the champions of the 4×4 initiative in their town, village, or city or at their workplace by just taking the first step.
