Africa-Press – Namibia. NAMIBIA’S sprint queen and Olympic 200m silver medallist, Christine Mboma, is the Athletics Weekly (AW) international junior female athlete of the year.

AW, one of the world’s premier athletics magazines, conducted an annual poll to determine the most favourite athletes in 13 different categories. In her category, Mboma ended ahead of America’s Athing Mu and Jamaica’s Briana Williams.

This comes after an exceptional year for Mboma. She won silver at the Tokyo Olympics in the women’s 200m race in a world under-20 record of 21,81 and also took the world junior title and Diamond League final victory.

“I am so grateful to AW for this award,” Mboma said. “I couldn’t have imagined a better year for my first international season. Thank you for recognising my achievements.”
