Africa-Press – Namibia. THE minister of finance, Iipumbu Shiimi, has reappointed Anna Nakale-Kawana as the chairperson the Namibia Revenue Agency (Namra).
He has also added the agency’s commissioner, Sam Shivute, Peter Kruger, and current acting executive director in the finance ministry Francois Brand to the now seven-member board.
The inaugural board only had five members, and their new term came to an end this month. With the new appointment, this board will serve for a three-year term from 1 December this year to 30 November 2024.
The other members of the board are Stefan Hugo, who has been reappointed and retained as deputy chairperson, the Bank of Namibia’s Shirene Bampton, as well as advocate Dennis Khama. The three were already on the board and were appointed for a second run.
Nakale-Kawana is a businessperson and previously headed the National Tender Board secretariat and revenue management in the Ministry of Finance, before being appointed managing director of the Namibia National Reinsurance Corporation (Namibre).
She is the founding chairperson of Namra. Hugo is a chartered accountant with qualifications in taxation from the University of South Africa. He previously served as partner and tax practice leader with PwC Namibia, and is currently the chief executive officer of One Africa Television.
Bampton is a seasoned human resources professional with more than 25 years’ experience in all disciplines of human resources, with much time spent in the financial services industry, and is currently the head of organised development and learning at the Bank of Namibia.
She holds a master’s of science degree in global human resources from the University of Liverpool. Khama holds B Juris and bachelor of law degrees from the University of Fort Hare and the University of South Africa.
He was admitted as a legal practitioner of the High Court of Namibia in 2004, and later joined the bar in July 2011. Brand is the acting executive director in the finance ministry, having headed the procurement unit within the ministry.
He is the former director of the financial literacy initiative. Kruger is a financial services executive with experience spanning 24 years in assisting financial institutions around the world with digital and technological information.
He holds a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, and registered for a doctoral degree in business administration at the Catholic University of Murcia in Spain in July 2020.
Shivute is Namra’s founding commissioner. He has worked for the Bank of Namibia for 18 years. He has also served as a detective in the Namibian Police for eight years, and has graduated from the University of Namibia.
