Africa-Press – Namibia. THE City of Windhoek (CoW) and the International University of Management (IUM) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on academic research and other initiatives.
The MoU encompasses curriculum development, capacity building, practical training, and student internships in areas such as Hospitality and Tourism, Business Administration, Accounting, Environmental Management, International Relations and Diplomacy, Information Communication and Technology, and Water Resources Management.
IUM’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Osmund Mwandemele, described the MoU as a crucial advancement for education, research, and community engagement, highlighting the valuable exchange of knowledge and skills to address key issues faced by the city.
CoW’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Moses Matyayi, emphasised the city’s dedication to forming valuable and high-quality partnerships through resource sharing. He pointed out that the City of Windhoek is one of the organisations that accommodates about 500 interns annually, preparing them for the job market and the country.
The Mayor of Windhoek, Queen Kamati, said that by combining academic expertise with the city’s practical knowledge, the partnership aims to create a more efficient and sustainable city that meets the needs of its residents. She also expressed her gratitude to the teams from both institutions for their hard work in making the MoU a reality, underscoring that this memorandum represents a shared vision of advancing education and fostering collaboration in vital areas.
