Africa-Press – Namibia. LAKE Otjikoto, located north of Tsumeb in the Oshikoto Region and one of Namibia’s unique natural wonders, has reached its full capacity following a period of sustained and significant rainfall.
This rare occurrence has drawn attention from locals and visitors alike, as the lake’s water levels have surged to a point not seen in decades.
According to tour guide Peteus Gerson, the last time Lake Otjikoto reached such a level was in 1978.
Gerson said that this makes the current event a truly exceptional occasion, highlighting the impact of the recent heavy rains in the region.
“This is a rare phenomenon for all of us and a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many,” he said.
Lake Otjikoto is known for its deep, clear waters and its historical significance, particularly its connection to World War I.
