Vries rubbishes Swallow’s exit rumours

Africa-Press – Namibia. Brave Warriors and Moroka Swallows goalkeeper Virgil Vries yesterday rubbished swelling rumours of him being dropped by his DStv premiership side, saying he is not aware of it.

The former Maritzburg United and Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper’s current deal with Swallows is close to its end and on Monday, Kick-off reported that the 32-year-old shot stopper is set to depart the Soweto outfit during the January transfer window.

Reacting to the news yesterday, Vries, who joined the Dube Birds as a free agent in 2019 told New Era Sport he has seen this news going around. “I’m injured. I don’t understand, because I’ve been out of play since September,” he said.

“I’ll be going for an operation this week or next week. The club hasn’t spoken to me about the rumours. I even asked the manager if he is aware of what’s going on, and he said it is all rumours.” Swallows currently occupy 14th position in the league standings with just 14 points from 18 matches.
