Africa-Press – Namibia. The Namibia Schools Sport Union (NSSU) has announced that more than 1 000 young athletes and officials from all 14 regions are set to converge at Independence Stadium in Windhoek for the 2025 National Athletics Championship on 2 and 3 May.
According to a statement issued by NSSU office administrator Allan Kake, the competition is set to kick off at 08h00 on both days, running until 19h00, with a full slate of track and field events expected.
“This esteemed championship will gather over 1 000 athletes and officials from across all regions of Namibia. It offers a premier platform to highlight their exceptional talent and unwavering commitment to sport,” Kake says.
The Ministry of Education, Youth, Innovation, Sport, Arts and Culture has also thrown its weight behind the event, calling on the nation to come out in support of the young athletes.
“We extend a cordial invitation to all Namibians, especially parents, guardiansand members of school communities, to attend and lend their support. Your presence and encouragement are vital in inspiring and motivating the next generation of Namibian sporting talent.”
“NSSU is deeply committed to the safety and well-being of all participants and will collaborate closely with relevant authorities to ensure a secure, welcoming and family-friendly environment throughout the event,” Kake says.
The union has called on the public to join in celebrating youth, athleticism, and the bright future of Namibian sport.
