Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Namibia Water Corporation (NamWater) has announced that concrete works are progressing at the Oshikuku siphon—a project set to significantly enhance water conveyance capacity and boost water delivery to north-central Namibia once completed.

NamWater explained that the works are necessary due to substantial damage sustained by the infrastructure during recent floods. In addition, some concrete replacements are required as a result of vandalism.

“This critical infrastructure forms part of the broader water supply system upgrade aimed at enhancing the efficiency and reliability of water delivery in the north-central regions of Namibia,” NamWater explained.

The corporation noted that the construction team is currently focused on casting reinforced concrete structures that will house key components of the siphon. These include the inlet and outlet chambers, as well as the anchor and support blocks essential for long-term structural stability.

“The ongoing works are being executed under strict quality and safety standards, and NamWater remains committed to delivering a durable solution that meets the region’s growing water demands. We appreciate the continued support and understanding of local communities as we carry out these essential improvements,” NamWater assured.
