Africa-Press – Namibia. CHINESE businessman Bin Yan, who last year wanted to establish a brickmaking project at Oshakati, might be allocated two industrial plots if there are no objections by this week Friday.

This is according to an advert placed by Oshakati Town Council in a local daily newspaper on Thursday.

Yan’s company, Oshana Crush Trading, might be allocated portion D and E, which he will lease from the Oshakati Town Council for 15 years with an option to buy them.

According to the notice, portion D measures 11 994,8 square metres while portion E measures 9 068,3 square metres.

If the deal sails through, his company will pay N$4 387 per month for the two plots.

Oshakati chief executive officer Timoteus Namwandi could not say whether the land is for the proposed brickmaking project or not.

“I need to go to the records and verify that,” he said.

In his presentation at a town council meeting last year, Yan said he would employ 70 people and that he wants to sell bricks, stones and sand to northern towns like Outapi, Oshikango and Grootfontein.

Yan owns properties in Windhoek and Ongwediva.
