Africa-Press – Namibia. The Namibia Football Association (NFA) has lifted the suspension of Young African FC head coach Maleagi Ngarizemo with immediate effect after he was suspended for alleged misconduct on 25 May 2025.
Ngarizemo’s suspension stemmed from the allegations of misconduct that were levelled against him, of which he was accused of physically assaulting the match referee and assistant referee in a Debmarine Premier League match between Young African against Blue Waters on 03 May 2025 at Kuisebmund Stadium in Walvis Bay.
According to the referee report, the head coach also ignored security personnel and persisted in violent behaviour while he was already shown a red card.
In a statement seen by New Era Sports about the incident of 03 May, read that Ngarizemo’s suspension is lifted with immediate effect, but the matter is referred to FIFA and the NFA Prosecutor for further consideration.
“The lifting of suspension does not imply that the matter is concluded,” it stated.
The NFA regarded that conduct as a violation of its rules and regulations, COSAFA, CAF, and FIFA, notably Rule 60, and undermined the integrity, safety, and safeguarding of referee and match officials.
However, Ngarizemo served his two-match ban from the touchline following the incident and further denied allegations levelled against him by NFA.
He informed the NFA that their decision to suspend him was in breach of its rules, notably Rule 61 sub 1, among others.
When recently asked for his comment about the lifted suspension, the forthright Ngarizemo told New Era Sports that he was expecting this, and it was good that NFA came to its senses.
“They realised that it was wrong how they handled this matter, and they must note that these caused Young African FC two valuable points,” he said.
The head coach further said he is not moved by the NFA’s threats of running to FIFA with allegations they can not even proof.
“These are mere allegations based on hearsay. The same letter speaks to FIFA, then NFA Prosecutor, but I only know a league Prosecutor as provided for by the rules, which is only appointed by the General Secretary,” he added.
The head coach added that his focus was on the remaining league fixtures which he claimed the second place behind crowned champions African Stars last weekend.
“We have reached our objective, which was to avoid relegation after the Namibia Correctional Services stopped our players employed by them not to play for us. We are thankful to the Almighty that we reached this far,” said Ngarizemo.
The head coach said that he was glad to be back on the touchline and do what he loved most, which is football, and that he will keep motivating the Gobabis-based outfit to greater heights.
Ngarizemo was the third Premier League coach to be suspended by the football governing body on allegations of misconduct this month (May).
The other two suspended are Paulus Shipanga and Ronnie Kananelo, respectively, from Blue Water and Bucks Buccaneers.
The duo, Shipanga, and Kananelo suspension stemmed from confrontations involving a knife and a gun on 18 May 2025 after a heated altercation at Nau-Aib Stadium, Okahandja.
Despite the incident occurring after the league match outside the stadium, NFA, through interim secretary general Cassius Moetie, suspended the duo for breaching rules and regulations.
