Africa-Press – Namibia. NAMIBIA’S Cabinet has officially declared May 12th as Nujoma Day, a new commemorative day dedicated to honouring the legacy of Founding President and Father of the Namibian Nation, Sam Nujoma.
This follows a Cabinet decision announced on Thursday by the Minister of Information, Communication and Technology, Emma Theofelus.
According to Theofelus, the day will also be recognised as a nationwide tree-planting day, emphasising environmental stewardship alongside national remembrance.
“The Cabinet’s decision establishes May 12th as a day to promote community service initiatives across the nation, encouraging citizens to engage in activities that reflect Nujoma’s contributions to Namibia,” she said.
She added that the ministry has been directed to devise and spearhead a comprehensive awareness campaign strategy.
