Africa-Press – Namibia. ERONGO Football League, through its executive committee, has responded to the plight of the recent fire victims in Henties Bay by donating food parcels.
Five shacks at Omdel informal settlement were destroyed by fire on 1 January, leaving seven people without a roof over their heads. Their belongings were also lost in the fire.
The acting regional coordinator of the league, Gibson Goseb, last week said the league’s administrators decided to assist the people through their relationship with the Henties Bay Sports Club.
“We have a team from Henties Bay, Henties Bay Sports Club, in our league. Therefore, we felt compelled to react in kind. A few victims are related to those players and we’re happy that we could do the little we did,” he said.
The food parcels consisting of 10kg sugar, 10kg maize meal, 10kg rice, 5kg wheat flour, and 5kg pasta where handover to the municipality through its disaster management unit last week.
