The Namibian Youth Energy Forum (NYEF) has announced that Namibia’s First Gentleman, Lieutenant-General (Rtd) Epaphras Denga Ndaitwah, has accepted to be its patron.
“This is more than just symbolic; it’s a message to all young Namibians that their opinions are valued, their leadership is urgently needed, and their voices count,” NYEF’s advisory board chairperson, Miguel Hamutenya, said.
“We are extremely honoured by this demonstration of confidence from the nation’s highest office,” Hamutenya said.
On his part, Ndaitwah underlined his dedication to assisting platforms that advance national development and expressed admiration for the energy and determination of young Namibians. It is expected that his participation will expand NYEF’s reach, improve cooperation and open fresh opportunities for young people to get involved in energy-related policy, innovation, and investment.
The patronage has been characterised as a call to action for the commercial sector, government agencies, and civil society to help the upcoming generation of energy leaders, as well as a symbolic and practical boost for NYEF.
The NYEF, founded by young Namibians, is a vibrant forum that unites young professionals from all points along the energy value chain. By emphasising inclusive involvement, NYEF seeks to ensure young people actively lead the way and are making decisions in the shift to a sustainable and just energy future, rather than merely being passive recipients of energy development.
