Africa-Press – Namibia. President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has called on towns holding expos to make them continuous events instead of holding them once a year.
“I have observed a trend of hosting expos and trade fairs as annual events across the country. However, expos should not be viewed as once-off events but as tools to empower the youth and women, especially those in rural areas, thereby creating a positive impact on the lives of our people,” says Nandi-Ndaitwah.
She was speaking at the official opening of the 15th Eenhana Expo in the Ohangwena region on Monday.
Nandi-Ndaitwah expressed disappointment after hearing that the number of exhibitors dropped.
“I am informed that this year’s expo has low international participation, with exhibitors only coming from Tanzania and South Africa. This indicates that the Eenhana Town Council and the organisers need to intensify their marketing strategies to attract international exhibitors in future editions, ” Nandi-Ndaitwah said.
Ohangwena governor Kadiva Hamutumwa described the Eenhana Expo as a powerful symbol of unity, resilience, and national solidarity.
“This expo is a celebration of Namibian made products, services, and partnerships that foster collaboration and spark innovation. The expo reflects the values we hold dear. I am happy to state that the expo brings together diversity in terms of skills, knowledge, culture, products, and services from entrepreneurship, community members, and sponsors,” said Kadiva.
A total of 199 exhibitors are participating in the Eenhana Expo, with the majority being regular participants over the years.
