Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Ministry of Finance has announced that Namibia Post Limited (NamPost) will become the official service provider for the cash distribution of social grants across the country, effective 1 October 2025.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Ministry’s spokesperson, Wilson Shikoto, said this new arrangement aims to improve service efficiency, enhance financial inclusion, and ensure convenient access to social grants for all eligible recipients.

According to Shikoto, under the new system, all social grant recipients residing within a town or settlement will collect their grants directly from their nearest NamPost office.

“Only those living in areas beyond a five-kilometre radius will continue to receive their grants through NamPost’s established mobile outreach and delivery services,” he said.

He added that NamPost’s extensive national presence and robust infrastructure are key factors positioning it to deliver a reliable and streamlined grants payment system.

Further, Shikoto said that current grant beneficiaries are advised to attend upcoming regional meetings to receive detailed information regarding these changes.

“Further specifics on payment schedules and collection points will be disseminated through various channels, including radio, print media, and community engagement efforts,” he added.

Shikoto reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring a transparent transition and an orderly, accessible rollout of this new service model.
