Africa-Press – Namibia. ‘ENCANTO’, a Disney animation film on which Namibian creative Reginald Amukoshi Emvula worked as an animation artist, won the 2022 Golden Globe award for best animation film.
The Golden Globes award ceremony took place on Monday at 04h00 local time. ‘Encanto’ was nominated alongside ‘Raya and the Dragon’, the Danish documentary ‘Flee’, ‘Luca’ and ‘My Sunny Maad’.
Emvula, who hails from Walvis Bay and attended St.George’s Diocesan School in Windhoek, joined the global entertainment leader, Walt Disney Animation Studios, two years ago as character technical director to work on ‘Encanto’.
He was also on the creative team that worked on ‘Raya and the Dragon’. ‘Encanto’ is a 2021 animated musical fantasy comedy, produced with a budget of between US$120 and US$150 million.
Before this, Emvula was employed at DreamWorks Animation, where he worked on the 2019 animation film ‘How to Train Your Dragon 3’ and 2020’s ‘Boss Baby’. According to his Linkedin profile, Emvula, also worked on the upcoming animated adventure film, ‘Zootopia+’.
