Africa-Press – Namibia. PRIME Minister Elijah Ngurare has called on Namibians to remain united and self-reliant.

Ngurare made the call during the belated 35th Heroes’ Day commemoration held at Omundaungilo in the Ohangwena Region.

According to Ngurare, the legacy of Namibia’s heroes is not a finished chapter but a living document that is written with every action.

“Let us build a Namibia where every child has a chance to succeed, every person has access to healthcare, clean water, sanitation, adequate food, and every community is connected and empowered,” he said.

He added that the blood of heroes watered the freedom of Namibia.

The Prime Minister outlined several key priorities aimed at improving the lives of all Namibians. He emphasised the importance of youth empowerment, saying, without the youth, there is no nation.

He said that the government plans to support young people through the National Youth Fund.

In addition to youth support, Ngurare highlighted a strong focus on food security, which will be achieved by boosting the agricultural sector.

Other pledges under the 8th administration include free higher education, improved rural healthcare, and enhanced access to basic services such as roads, water, and electricity across the country.

Ngurare also stressed the importance of community infrastructure, stating that every village must have a community garden, every village must have a borehole and a rural feeder road and every child must have access to amenities that make learning and living dignified.

Regarding land, housing, and sanitation, Ngurare affirmed that the government is compelled to roll out projects aimed at ensuring equitable access.

He stressed that these are basic human rights, for which there should be no begging, and that a person’s dignity is compromised when they lack such facilities.
