Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Sankwasa James Sankwasa, said that when a local authority council is allocated money by the Central Government and given a go-ahead to implement a specific project, and it fails to do the job, the Ministry will take such money away and redirect it to where it would be put to good use.
Sankwasa said this while visiting Ondangwa on Thursday.
He visited several ongoing and completed projects in the town and said he was impressed by the level of implementation, but also scolded the Council for implementing new S&T rates without ministerial approval.
He was also not satisfied with the salary and benefits of the town’s Chief Executive Officer, which he said also lacked ministerial approval.
