THE Minister of Education, Sanet Steenkamp, has announced the appointment of the Interim Board of the National Youth Council.
Steenkamp confirmed that the appointments are effective from 1 October 2025 and will remain in force until 31 March 2026, or until a substantive Board is duly appointed in accordance with the provisions of the National Youth Council Act (3 of 2009)
She revealed that the appointed members of the Interim Board are: Dr Kennedy Kariseb (Chairperson), Lyahoo Ndapandula Shiimi (Deputy Chairperson), Unombuiro Unoo Kauteza, Patience Masua, Malwa Christine Ndapewa Francisco, Jamie Theron, Ester Meameno Shitana, Donna Gamatham, and Almandro Jansen.
“Members of the Interim Board are entrusted with providing strategic guidance and oversight in the governance of the Council. They are expected to uphold the principles of accountability and transparency while working collaboratively with fellow members and stakeholders to advance the mandate of youth development in Namibia,” the minister added.
Steenkamp highlighted that the Board will be guided by a set of Terms of Reference outlining their roles and responsibilities.
“They will further undergo an induction programme to familiarise themselves with the legal, policy and governance framework of the Council, thereby enabling them to execute their duties effectively,” the minister added.
