President Nandi-Ndaitwah Meets With IPC Leadership

PRESIDENT Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah recently met with the leadership of the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC), led by Dr Panduleni Iitula, President of the IPC, and Immanuel Nashinge, Leader of the Official Opposition in Parliament.

“During my address to Parliament, I emphasised the importance of strengthening engagement between government and the opposition. Today’s meeting is part of that commitment to ensure open dialogue, mutual respect, and constructive cooperation in the interest of our nation,” the President said.

Iitula congratulated the President on her historic election as Namibia’s first female Head of State, calling it a defining milestone for the nation. He also expressed his appreciation for the invitation, noting that such engagements are vital for strengthening democracy and fostering national unity.

“Your Excellency, we are deeply grateful for this opportunity to exchange ideas on matters of national importance,” Iitula said.

According to the Presidency, the discussions spanned a broad range of national priorities, including education, healthcare, infrastructure development, value addition, energy security, and Namibia’s positioning amidst current global geopolitical shifts. The talks also focused on how best to safeguard the country’s interests in a rapidly evolving world.

The Presidency underscored the meeting as part of a longstanding tradition of Heads of State engaging political parties to seek common ground on issues of national significance. It further affirmed that similar consultations will be held with other political parties in due course.
