Africa-Press – Namibia. Mukwe constituency councillor Damian Maghambayi through his office recently empowered youths of Andara Youth Bakery with equipment worth N$230 000 to aid its operations in order to create income and employment to their fellow youths.
Maghambayi also sponsored the Ruyendo Cultural Group who received a donation of traditional drums (magoma) to use in their cultural performances during events and activities which also generates income for the members, through performances, to help sustain their activities while promoting and preserving the Hambukushu’s rich cultural traditions.
“The Mukwe Constituency Office has made strategic investments to empower local youth and promote cultural heritage, while also enabling income-generating opportunities for the community,’’ Maghambayi said during the handover on Friday.
Maghambayi said a modern set of bakery equipment valued at N$230,000.00 has been procured to support the Andara Youth Bakery. “This initiative is aimed at boosting youth entrepreneurship, creating employment, and improving livelihoods through a sustainable business model in the constituency,’’ he noted.
“Additionally, the Ruyendo Cultural Group received a donation of traditional drums (magoma). In the past, the group had to borrow instruments from local schools to perform. With this support, the group can now confidently participate in cultural performances and events,’’ he said.
According to Maghambayi, these contributions highlight the Mukwe Constituency Office’s continued commitment to youth development, cultural preservation, and economic empowerment.
