Africa-Press – Namibia. JAFET Augustus, a SWAPO Party local authority councillor and mayor of Oniipa town in the Oshikoto Region, has been withdrawn and expelled from the party after registering as an independent candidate for the Oniipa Constituency.
The party’s secretary general, Sophia Shaningwa, said in a letter that by registering as an independent candidate to oppose the SWAPO candidate, Augustus has blatantly violated the party’s constitution and has thereby excommunicated (expelled) himself from the SWAPO Party.
