IPC targets ‘palpable’ change for Otjinene

Africa-Press – Namibia. The Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) candidate for the Otjinene Constituency, Mervin Kaupasaneua Tuaire, says he will bring significant change to the vast settlement in the Omaheke region if elected as councillor.

Tuaire told Nampa that he will prioritise improving the education sector in the Otjinene constituency by introducing vocational and agricultural training centres.

“These institutions will be vital to our settlement, as they will assist school dropouts to gain skills in various technical and agricultural fields.

These institutions will enable our rural youth to create employment for themselves, rather than flocking to other towns,” he said, adding that they will also attract more investors to the settlement.

The IPC candidate, who is also one of the sports administrators in Otjinene, said he intends to improve sports infrastructure so that young people can have facilities where they can nurture their talents.

“We have talented athletes in the area, but they find themselves hopeless due to the lack of facilities,” he said.

On housing, Tuaire said the issue will be high on his agenda, as he will ensure that residents have roofs over their heads.

“I will work hand-in-hand with the Otjinene Village Council and the National Housing Enterprise to ensure that residents have affordable houses and that homelessness becomes a thing of the past in Otjinene,” Tuaire promised.

Regarding the road network, the candidate said he will promote sustainable transport and the widening of roads connecting the local villages with smaller paths.

He also promised a safer environment for residents and visitors through addressing crime in the settlement both day and night.

“I will also create a local security initiative on stock theft, as cases of livestock theft are prevalent in our settlement and neighbouring constituencies,” he said.

Agriculture, one of the government’s priority areas, will also receive his attention. Tuaire said he plans to establish green schemes to supply local markets with fresh produce.

“These schemes will be vital. Food security will be addressed and employment will be created at the same time,” he promised, among other commitments.

Tuaire, a former teacher, currently serves as the Omaheke Athletics chairperson, Otjinene Sports Club chairperson, and a volunteer in Otjinene Youth and Sports Development.
